Hey, what do u guys think of these quads(yamaha raptor 350 or 660, yfz 450r, kfx 450r, outlaw 525s, outlaw 525irs, or a quadracer R450) they r a few that ive seen and rode before...and im thinkin about gettin one, so give me your thoughts on these quads.
P.S. I need a quad that is durable, and can stand anything...and also could add more to it to make it raceable.

Thats a wide variety of atvs, the rap350 and 660 are not a good platform for racing. Any of the 450's are great racers and the Ktm's are very awesome if you can afford them. What kind of riding or racing you gonna be doing? What kind of experience do you have with atvs?

That is a very wide variety of quads you listed .. You should narrow down your selection a little, determine first what you will mostly be doing. Keeping in mind, the 450 class is a high maintenance bish, but will treat you good if you treat it good. the 350 is outdated, and a loss of a machine. The 660 is better, but I wouldn't plan on racing with it.
I've heard great things about the outlaw's due to the KTM powerplant.
What kind of riding will you mainly be doing?

from what ive ridden this is my impression.
rappy 350, underpowered, old tech, beginner bike
rappy 660, decent motor, 700 is much better, good trail/dune quad, not great on the track
yfzr, rode my buddys, felt very sketchy, not planted, and a touchy powerband, didnt like it.
kfx, decent when modded, worst seat in teh industry, swear to god im sitting on a 2x4.
outlaws, havent ridden them, but that motor is very strong and super reliable.
LTR, decent al around bike, father from race ready than youd think, pretty damn heavy too. but not a bad bike overall
09 450SX, QT hump seat, Flexx lo bars, hipers, FMF Slipon, Floats, Razr MX tires d-bike CDI, fourwerx hood, polisport handguards, maybe some porting for next year
09 Sponsors, KTM Canada,HB Cycle,Race Toyota,TEKvest ,Motovan,Fourwerx Carbon

450 for woods and moto stay away from a 350 if you even want to be competitive
660 and 700's are for the desert but can work good for enduro cross country(with some serious suspension work rather it be desert or woods) type stuff if they have a class for that engine size

Im also wondering, my cousin is going to be doing some flat track racing and he asked me what kind of quad he should get, any suggestions? He has a few, but i dont remember what ones he was saying, ill get back to u on that though.

Any of the 450's will get you starting into ATV motocross (this is where I wish the manufacturers would produce a 250cc 4 stroke race machine), pick one and get the required equipment and enter into one of the "C" or beginner classes.
Here are the class listings and rules for National ATV motocross, local series might differ slightly but most follow the National rules.

As far as the flat track racing goes. Your friend will want to review the rules and regulations for the class he wants to race, that will somewhat dictate what ATV he chooses to race. For example if said friend chooses a Raptor 700 he is limited to an "Open" class which is usually filled with experienced riders on big bore machines, not the best situation for a beginning racer that has no race experience.
Here are the rules and regulations for the National ATV dirt track series, local events might be slightly different but most take cues from the national rulebook.

With both types of racing be sure to read the Equipment rules and regs so you won't be black flagged before you even get on the track. By the way your entry/gate fees will not be refunded if you or your machine is out of compliance.

for mx if you have the $$ the ktm is hard to beat, the yami can be made competitive with some small mods, the kawi takes alot of work because it isnt wide and doesnt have great suspension, and a new seat is needed before any riding lol.
the can-am is good too but i saw alot of them towed off teh track this year
