Hey guys, I have a 2001 Polaris Sportsman 400 and was looking to modify the headlights and to bypass the reverse override button. Is there anyone out there with info on how to do these two tasks.

how are you looking to modify the headlights? ...
As for the over ride, just hard wire the switch in so it thinks its always being pushed in .. but from my personal experience with polaris, messing around with their electrical will only cause more problems in the future .. i mean, is it really that hard to just push the button when you're backing up?

Its not that it is hard to just push the button when you can sit on the bike, the button makes it impossible to get off and try to help push your bike back out of big mud holes. With out the button engaged the four wheel drive will not work and the bike will not even spin the rear wheels. The headlight mod that i want is to combine both the low lights mounted under the front rack and the high light which is mounted on the handlebars so they all work together.

the light part is easy just wire them all into the same switch find the handle bar light wire coming off the switch and splice it into your other light wires

on my 400 polaris express I can use all 3 of my lights, high and low beams, what I do is find the 1/2 way in between of the switch, that seems to work on mine but I don't know if it will work on yours. I genraly follow behind every one and light up every thing, lol.

Can't help ya with the lighting issues. As far as the reverse governor over-ride, maybe. I eliminated the reverse speed governor, and diff lock speed governor on my 05 Grizzly. Simple matter of replacing the stock CDI box, with a high performance aftermarket one. It also increased the rev limiter by 2000 rpm and advanced the timing slightly. I also threw a high output coil in at the same time, for good measure. Very noticeable power gain, across the band. Whole package cost me about $230 bucks.
