My rhino has all that in the list you posted, except for the license plate.I also don't have any blinkers, but thats an easy fix. I would love to see atvs/utvs become street legal here in Louisiana.

That is all true. An ATV is closer to being street legal than even a dirt bike. Yet dirt bikes can be made street legal an ATVs can't.

I look at it this way a kid can legally drive a tractor on the road. Why can't we ride our ATVs? ATV/quads should be added to the list of street legal and worthy forms of transportation.

If anyone has information that I can send to my congressman that would help in making this a reality I would appreciate it.

For me it seems like a no brainer and the next evolution in vehicle transportation.

What could be more stable on the road than a 4 wheel quad that is made street worthy.

This could open up new markets for a hurting economy. Street quads could be the next big evolution in on road riding.

4 wheels will give people who are afraid of 2 wheels more confidence a new option to enjoy the open road.

Many ATV trails are in rural towns. This would be a great way to go from the town to the trail without having to load and unload your ATV every time you wanted to go for a ride.

There are some people who are handicapped and can no longer ride a 2 wheel motorcycle. A quad would help them get back on the road.

Finally it is legal in Europe. I believe the US is a larger market and wouldn’t it make since to keep expanding that market.

My $.02

Car runs a stop sign and hits a another car you 2,000 damage and sum scrapes and bumps.

Car runs a stop sign and hits a ATV you are out 6,000 for the ATV and your life.

Motorcycles are just about as dangerous, and the only reason they are allowed is they have been around so long. Plus you are a little higher on a motorcycle so you probably end up on the hood rather than under the car.

It may be the riders choice, but you can bet ther rider's family is going to sue the other driver for millions.

You take risk every time you get in a car, truck, motorcycle, tractor,or atv.Vehicles are alot safer, but alot of people are willing to take the risk to enjoy the ride.Drake317,you must not have ever rode a street motorcycle.Because it is a very enjoyable feeling to be on the road on a bike then in a vehicle.

You are right drake317 that you would have a better chance of survival if a car ran into you if you were in a car than on an ATV or motorcycle.

However when you are on the road in a car or on a motorcycle or on the trail on an ATV you are always taking a risk of possible injury or worse. To take it a step further everything in life is a risk. People get injured everyday from the simplest tasks. Life is never promised to you.

Personally I do not know if I could enjoy a ride if I always was thinking that I would get injured.

As far as ride height of an ATV compared to a motorcycle, normally you sit higher up on an ATV than a motorcycle. On a motorcycle everything is inline with the bike, where as with a quad you have the tires that protrude on the sides. So if you were to get hit by a car, I think on an ATV you would end up on the hood, and have a little bumper in between you and the car with the tires compared to a motorcycle.

Problem is the rider is not the only one taking the risk. If the rider becomes an invalid or dies you can bet his/her family is going to sue the other driver for millions. So a small mistake by somebody simply driving to work ends up ruining his life also.

I agree everything can be dangerous. But if I run into a tree while trail riding then it is mostly just me that is at risk. But lets be honest. Riding ATVs is inherently dangeous and riders must consider this before they decide to ride.

I have rolled my ATV twice, once breaking a couple of ribs. If you read this forum there have been lots of riders who have reported similar or even worse injuries. And there have been a lot riders killed riding ATVs. As an adult with a family I owe it to them to take these types of things into consideration. But this is another conversation.

Just saying when you propose things like ATV running around metro areas you need to think about the affects on others.

You take risk everyday, some statisically more risky then others.
