Yeah I speak from experience also. I have rode rincons and they are nice, but like I said no ground clearance, needs more power for turning bigger tires, doesn't come with diff-lock,and I thought they only have disk on the front and not the back? If you are not riding too extreme of a terrain and just riding moderate trails and wanting a good work atv than the rincon is perfect. And if the rincon fits you then thats good,I was just saying that it was-not for me until they address a few things.

Yeah, its not for everyone. Its kinda like the SUV of Utility ATVs. The Rincon always had a rear driveshaft mounter disc brake, but has drums up front. A few years ago, they added discs up front. As for power to turn tires, I had a completely stock (engine-wise) 2003 Rincon 650. I ran 27 inch ITP 589s on ITP Steel Wheels. I NEVER experienced a time when I couldn't turn those wheels with authority. GThe newer 675cc mill with EFI has a lot more punch than the 650cc version did. It should indeed have a locker though.

2010 Honda Rincon, Red, Bone Stock
2005 Suzuki King Quad, Yellow, also bone stock.

My brother has had the older Grizzly 660, and now the 700 griz and just bought the 550 griz, and I have to say the Rincon in normal 4 wheel drive is much easier to ride than either of his three grizzlys. He has said himself that he does not like riding his 700 in 4x4 mode. On the Rincon, you can hardly tell the difference between in and out of 4 wheel drive. I have never ridden a Brute Force 750, but I like the concept of its locker. That would be the locker setup I would like to see on the Rincon. My recent trip to Chadwich OHV in Missouri was a testament to the climbing ability of the Rincon. Most all the trails were rated hard to real hard, and took alot of skill to navigate. Rode all of them in 4x4 mode, and can truthfully say that the Rincon was easy to handle throughout that ride. Not to say that after four days of trail riding on that trip our arms were not sore. The Rincon has a one inch lower clearance than the Grizzly at 10", but that one inch makes a huge difference in handling between the two. There is no power steering or locker on the Rincon, but it definitely has a more fun factor than the griz.

I had the exact opposite reaction. I use to own a rubicon and it was pretty good, but I wanted more,so I rode a friends rincon 650 and then rode another friends grizz 660.I came away more impressed with the grizz and went and bought an 05 grizz660.We all have different riding styles and different atv preferences, thats what makes the world fun. And the honda has only 2wd or 4wd, what do you mean by "normal 4 wheel drive"?The rincon and the grizz both have 2 or 4 wheel drive selectors, but they are actually only 3 wheel drive. The front wheels are not both working at the same time.Thats when you need the diff-lock and the grizz has a diff lock. But like I said the rincon is very nice and if they had a diff lock and more ground clearence I would take a closer look at buying one.

I sold my Rincon for all the above reasons.......Suzki and Yamaha ,only way to go...Honda is yesterdays newspaper....The Big (ugly) Red is a prime example. Engine and transmission oil or all in one....poor design.

Jhess I carried my 2002 Grizz on a ride that was outside of Farmerville, LA with a friend of mine that drove a Big Truck with me at the same company. After a couple of hrs of riding I had enough of my fellow worker bugging me about wanting to ride the 660 so I let him.

It took me awhile to catch up with him and let him know we DID NOT trade and that he needed to get back on his saw horse Honda. He hated to do so but he did like the Grizz but he is brand loyal and he made the mistake of telling his Cousin that rode nothing but Honda's about our ride and has been having to live with it every since because Keith bought a 660 Grizz and has done nothing but wear his Cousin out since.

I do not own a Rincon 650, I own a fuel injected 680. It manhandles the griz 660 on the trails. You are under a false illusion on how the non-lockered 4 wheel drive systems of the Honda and Yamaha operate. Just by your statement "The front wheels are not both working at the same time" is not a true representation of the true workings of the front differentials on both the Rincon and Grizzly. I can do a jack rabbit start on a dirt trail and leave 4 wheels of spinout marks. Both wheels in the front do work at the same time in 4x4 mode. There are certain cases that may not be the case, but in every case of being stuck in deep mud all four wheels were turning vociferously. The reason I was stuck was because of being High-Centered, a problem even the Grizzly has in the deep mud. Of course riding skills can be used to get either out of being stuck with out using a locker.

jhess, you just didn't have the riding skills to ride your Rincon properly, and you probably used the wrong oil in your machine which gave you your supposed transmission problem, which were no problems at all. I see the cvt belt driven auto systems as being closer to being a poor design, or there would not be so many aftermarket companies offering fixes. Lord help that the belts don't get wet.

Lord (tranny slips)help you in cold weather! Riding skills? I have ridden dirt flat track, cross country, hill climb,an ll kinds of street stunts BTW, my Rincon was serviced at the dealership,by very good mechanics. They agreed that the tranny was a poor design, using the same fluid for engine and tranny.Honda doesn't have a better idea! I have not had a problem with a belt.If hey are so bad,why do they use them in all the top bikes? I will give you,one credit, your loyal to Honda...

Does Honda offer any type of school on riding a "Ugly Big Red"? No mfg built a better 4X4 than the old Suzuki 300 King Quad.
