Hey
I looking for a GPS for my truck I want traffic updates an internal battery and spoken direction with street names not just "turn left in 100 feet" I want "turn left onto Smith street" and a good size screen.
I dont care about brand and will spend up to $350-$400 if needed.
I visited CNET.com for some reviews but you know how that goes they all have good and bad points so I want some real world feedback.
Thanks

I personally dont have a gps unit because my phone has one, but if I where to buy one I would probably go with a Garmin. I've heard nothing but good things about them since they have came out.

I always wondered how well the phone ones work, I mean do they acctually have a WASS reciever in them or do they just triangulate from cell towers? If the latter is the case then a cell phone is useless in most areas. I find cell phones to be terrible unreliable.

I have the blackberry storm, and its yet to let me down. I dont have the regular style gps on it, but its something that tracks where i am and where im headed with waypoints and what not, shows speed and distance w/direction. I could spend the money and get VZnavigator, but I cheap out and go one step down with the other apps.

2 weeks ago I went out 30 miles on the lake and we in the middle of no where on the boat. Had no one around me, and my phone was in SOS only mode, but my gps was still kicking. It has a "send SOS beacon" feature on it that will do just what it says, but Idk if it works since i've yet to use it

A phone is a phone,a GPS is locator.I have used them for years on boats. When thhey first came out for the gen. public, you could only get within a 100 yds of your spot, but now its around 10 ft.I know their great when backtracking on a deer late at night.
