Screw the idea of landing them in jail. Chances are they will get nothing from a judge. Take it to them personally, just make sure you have a good (bullet-proof) alibi and rack them yourself. Also make sure there are NO witnesses who can finger you and your pals.

"Ok well heres the deal--
First found out the quad/bike were stolen at 6:15 ish by my dad, who noticed the greenhouse door was open.
My nieghbors truck alarm was going off at 3:00 am first..
My neighbors saw 2 people pushing my quad from my house across the street (3:30 am) , down a side street to where we always see 20-25 yr olds partying with a ton of people. They just thought it was me and my buddy sneaking out to go screw around town on my quad.
Neighbors and people who like 1+mile away heard or saw it flying down main roads.
I got pics of the bent over grass trail leading from the side road across the street from my house to there back yard, and of a muddy track from a dirtbike left leaving there yard and into the street.
Upon calling the cops and stuff we tell them everything we know, ect... Cops leave and we see a car pull into that house that my quad went to... he gets out of the car and its my cousins boyfriend WHO HAS BEEN TO MY HOUSE, AND RIDDEN MY QUAD IN THE PAST...
He tells us- "oh i think i might know where your quad is" and he leaves and comes back saying "nope, couldnt find it", ect...
Well my brother in law and me sat in his truck, and just watched the house.. next thing you know, there hooking a trailer up to there SUV.. The noticed we were watching them, so they just started loading random stuff on the trailer, including this tiny cheap car with no plates.. Well they leave the house and we start following them-- guess where they drove right to-- my cousins boyfriends house!!!
We pull up right behind them, and they guy that owns the house down the street, and my cousins boyfriend were all "why the w00ter are you following us" ? We said you know exactly why we are-- and my cousins boyfriend was like "dude ive been looking for your quad all day, ive looked everywhere and called everyone"
Owner of the house near me says "JUST CUZ THE QUAD WAS STARTED IN MY YARD, DOESNT MEAN I TOOK IT". So obviously he knew the whole time.... Yet when questioned that morning he says he didnt hear ANYTHING..
We tell them that were not leaving til we know where the quad is-- Then another guy comes out and is like "I found your quad, do you wanna know where or not??"
So he shows us this dirt road, then a trail at the end- (Maybe 10 houses away from my cousins boyfriends house!! )
walk in about 300 feet, and my quad is just chilling there in the woods...
The only person who lives on the dirtroad says " I saw bobby ( cousins bf) riding my quad about an hour ago into the woods) (yet they say they just found it) Walk over to it and connect the wires and start it up. It was on reserve and on the 2nd choke. I drove it home and the cops came over and stuff.
Still looking for the dirtbike, but in less than 24hrs we have over 5 names, addresses, phone numbers of all people who are known for stealing stuff, and were at that party that night.. Thank you myspace, and ex girlfriends who hate there ex bf's.
I need a new starter/key assembly, tie rods, a-arms (one side is pushed in farther than the other), handle bars, steering stem, 1 front rim is warped bad, 1 back rim is dented and scraped real bad, my back fenders have a crack where the mount for the grab bar holds the fenders, my grab bar is gashed on the right side, front fenders are gouged on the sides and the nose, clutch cable is snapped, the thing that holds the brake fluid on the bars and bend up but not leaking.
We gave the cops every singe piece of info we have, but they still claim they cant do anything pretty much..."

Sorry to here this happen to you, i would be pretty pissed of if it was me, and probley end up getting some revenge. My question is does insurance cover damages that happen to it, considering it was stolen? Im not sure what coverages you have, ik on mine i have theft, collision, etc..

You need to invite them to your church,and try to help them to overcome their piracy.Two evils don't ,make a right.Be kind and gentle and try to understand their reason for "borrowing" your atv.Make them your friends,and they want steal from you.Foregiveness is a virtue.

That is a crock of sh!t! All it will accomplish is a good chuckle from them and the next time they will steal more from you, and trash is worse. Forgiveness is a weakness. Kick their asses, and the next time they will think twice about ripping you off. Pain and fear are a much better persuader than kindness and understanding.

I prefer the passive agressive aproach. Secretly and selectivley "monitor" their mail, thow away any supsected important letters like bills, credit card statements, notices ect...(burn them) The trick is to do it without them or anybody else knowing (it is a federal offence) but if you are sucessfull you will have the satisfaction of knowing they might go into dilinquency with a creditor or company they owe money to. The satifaction will come when say their electricity gets shut off becasue they never paid their electric bill (because they never got the bill)
There are plenty of other ways to "inconveinence" them, just have to use your mind.
