RE: 08 700xx

Has anyone done any gear changes for the xx? top end is weak what exhaust seems to work the best on this quad is having a re-maping necessary after exhaust change? skeer1, I'm not sure what you mean by "weak". My TRX700XX has vast amounts of power at top end. My problem was with the lower end speed. It was way too high geared for my type of riding. By changing to a 13 tooth counter shaft sprocket (same sprocket used on the 450s) I now have control of the power at slower speed. The 5th gear speed was amazing before the sprocket changed and is just as remarkable now. Sid

RE: Let it snow!

warrior-kid, Thanks for the video. The music is from my generation and certainly brings back many memories of Christmases long ago. That ride was, no doubt, fun! Thanks again, Sid

TRX700XX Evaluation

To All, I have had my Honda TRX700XX for about 6 months now and have finally got enough time on it to give you a realistic evaluation on it. At first, I was disappointed with it because it seemed that I spent all my time shifting and not enough time enjoying it. My "Buds" on the TRX700XX Forum suggested changing the counter shaft sprocket to a 13 Tooth instead of the 14 stocker. I took their suggestion and did it. The machine is tremendous now. As I have mentioned in the past, my riding is primarily in the desert with rocks and dirt/loose sand trails. It is unclear that any what if any top-end was sacrificed. I will probably never be able to answer that question. Top speed isn't really my thing. I have had my 2005 Yamaha Grizzly 660 for 4 1/2 years now and still find it to be an extraordinary machine. For prospecting and general nasty hills and roads it's great. I don't have any pictures but may soon. The XX is the red and black version that was for 2008. I put Honda nerfs, bumper, under side protection and grab handle on it along with a Hardline hour meter. Sure looking forward to much cooler weather. The cooling fan puts out a lot of heat so this winter will be more comfortable riding.:B Very Respectfully, Sid

RE: Haven't been around in a while...

Brad7131, Great looking truck!! Always nice to know the history on a vehicle before you buy it. Enjoy it and be sure to personalize it with a nice shiny quad in the bed. Ha,ha. Sid

RE: i need advise please.

bencr13 I think your mean 12K ($12,000). In any event, you will be able to get a nice Yamaha 450 for that with money to spare. Don't be afraid to get a year old model, new in the box. Many great deals are available now with the economy the way it is. A few extra dollars will get some options such as nerfs, guards for the suspension and underneath. You will have enough to get a good quality helmet if you don't have one already and some other protective equipment (boots, gloves, chest protection, riding suit and on and on and on). I guarantee you will still have money left over. Consider buying insurance. Good luck and ride safely. Sid
