RE: College Football-2010

What do you mean the Big Ten does not have a championship game? In 2011 they will be playing a championship game in Indianapolis. Sure the Huskers lost the Oklahoma rivalry, but that was lost when they went to the Big 12 and they got put in different conferences which resulting in them playing for two years then off for two years. Not much of a rivalry after that. I did not want to see Nebraska leave the Big 12, but they had to do it. Nebraska left the Big 12 for greener pastures.

RE: College Football-2010

Names being thrown around to win the National Championship are Oklahoma, Nebraska, Alabama, Virginia Tech. Plus a few others. Personally I don't like to make predictions this early in the season because they usually don't come true.
I will predict that Mark Ingram WILL NOT win the Heisman.
I do like Nebraska's schedule. Will have three tough games which will include Texas @ home, @ Texas A&M, then hopefully the Big 12 Championship. Washington could be a tough game since it is played their.
What is everyones thoughts on the Big 10 and their new divisions starting in the 2011 season? Nebraska is being welcomed into the conference with a tough schedule. I like that Nebraska ends the season with Iowa. That game could turn into a nice rivalry. It will be a power conference. The bad thing is it will be tough for any team in the Big 10 to win a National Championship with the talent the conference should have each year.

RE: Don't mess with Texas? Nebraska will take its chances.

It won't be long now. The Big 12, Big 10 among other leagues are holding their media days. A few short weeks and the teams will start to practice.

I am also read for football season to start. With all of the offseason stuff that has taken place involving the Big 10 and Big 12 this season could be real fun.
jhess watch out because the Huskers are going to come a knocking on that crimson tide door and if I were Bama I would not open the door to look out because the BIG RED may just knock that door in.

RE: Did some riding today

The above pics are where the Platte River starts, which as we all know from Geography class eventually drains into the Gulf.
First the Platte drains into the Missouri River, which drains into the Mississippi River then finally ending up in the Gulf. There is your Geography lesson.
Great pictures by the way. Wish I had something like that around here.

RE: Midwest Riding Locations

Since some rains a few weeks ago ALL of Halsey's trails are closed, and will remain closed for the near future pending repairs.
Check out this link: USDA Forest Service LINK
Halsey OPEN trails
The trails at the Bessey Ranger District near Halsey that are remaining open are:
The Dismal River Trail (Trail 112)
The Power Line Trail (Trail 113)
The Poison Ivy Trail (Trail 114)
Fence Line Trail (Trail 115)
A short section of 214 located in the south part of the Forest
Trail 120
Trail 121
Trail 118
Trail 119
ATV and dirtbike access in the main campground, the Bessey Recreation Complex will continue for this year. If there continues to be problems with riders ignoring the rules, the campground will be closed later to ATV and dirtbike riders.
Trails that were heavily used by ATV and dirtbike riders that are now closed are 201 and most of 214. These are the trails that go through the more flat pairie terrain.
Hope this hopes with clarifying which trails are open and closed.

RE: What does everyone have going on this weekend?

Should I punch you in the mouth now or later? J/K I hate these twelve hour shifts. Working from 6am - 6pm really puts a damper on having fun. Oh well I am off tomorrow and still get 8.25hrs of pay.
John, hope you had some good weather down there last night. We got some nasty wind driven rains. Thought my house was going to blow down. Luckily there was no damage. I am planning on getting down to Harlan soon. I keep seeing and hearing how much fun everyone is having down there.

RE: Arizona's New Immigration Laws. Good or Bad?

I have lots I could say about this topic. I will start with this comment by camo fox and continue as I feel necessary after I read each response.
Back to the Racial profiling for a second. Here in Wisconsin, we have just recently passed a law that requires law enforcement to document what race each individual is that the police have to deal with. They didn't go into much more detail as to why, but it was something along the lines of racial profiling (according to the local paper article). I can see it being good for numbers, so the public can see what race has more "run-ins" with the law, but other than that, I see no good out of it, IMO. Has any other state done this?
I don't know anything about Wisconsins law, but there has been a federal law that requires Law Enforcement to document the race of the subject they contact during a traffic stop. The catch to this law was there were only three maybe four cities that had to do the documentation. One being New York. Not sure about the others. Our administration makes us fill them out only as a CYA type of deal. We only have to keep track of race (White, Black, Hispanic, Asian, etc.) no names, genders, or any personal information of any sort. It has been useful to me because I found out I am racial. Towards white people. Wait I am white. Is there a name for being racial towards your own race. Anyways with the growing Hispanic population around here I stop maybe one or two hispanics a week.

RE: Drill, baby, drill.

It is unfortunate what has happened with this oil spill. Environmentally, and economically. However I am still for off shore drilling. I would rather have the U.S. drilling off our shores than another country.
Something many of you may not know is the U.S. is sitting on one of the biggest oil supplies in the world and because of the environmental wackos and politics nobody can touch it. It is located below North Dakota, South Dakota and parts of Nebraska, and Montana.
What I find funny is the way Bush was bashed for the way he handled Katrina. Now Obama is starting to get the same thing for the BP disaster. They are actually calling it Obama's Katrina.
I have a suggestion on how to fix the problem. Plug the oil leak with illegal immigrants, or to be Politically Correct they are now called "Undocumented Democrats".
